The synthesis between architecture and landscape are decisive for the specific atmosphere. The Dutch design is a mixture of minimalistic architecture and New Forms with the characteristic bent lines. For the warmth of African atmosphere we have used bright colours and lighting effects. The lay out is clear: from the central entrance / reception with staircases you have internal access to the rooms, lounge, breakfast room / big terrace with roof garden and pond and back garden with pool / park. You can experience nature and landscape from different levels, from the Top Room you can even notice the ocean. AccommodationThe spacious and very luxurious guest rooms have big windows and are all situated at the back site with the gardens, pool and park. From comfortable chairs on the private terrace you can see wildlife including bushbuck, red duiker, monkeys, mongoose, and a variety of birds. After sunset you can hear the loud call of the bush baby and hippos can be spotted from a short distance. The nature in KwaZulu Natal is very diverse and colourful. We have tried to bring this atmosphere into the rooms. Each room has its own coloured accent. The high characteristic roof construction and the huge window frame with a magnificent view determine the atmosphere of the Top Room. All the rooms have a black quartz floor. Park View Suite Rooms (park level) are bright, large (50 m2) and have big windows with a wide pivot door to the private garden and terrace. Each room has a comfortable sitting area inside and outside and is fitted with air-conditioning (heating & cooling), ceiling fan, mini bar, satellite DSTV, wall safe, king size bed with Auping mattresses, wireless internet connection, hair dryer, coffee and tea facilities. Top Room Room has the same facilities but a high loggia with a beautiful view over the park and views through to the ocean. The bathrooms are very luxurious with double basins, separate toilet, bath, separate shower and towel heater. FacilitiesFacilities included: lounge with reading table, bookcase, coffee, tea and soft drinks, adjoining terrace with real fish pond and roof garden with wide view into the park, deep salt water pool for real swimmers (12 x 5 x m’) with martini deck and rim flow with at both sides sun decks, private parking area and credit card facilities, laundry service and excursions bookings. Serene-estate is ideal for visiting the pristine beaches, the varied landscapes and the big 5 game parks. St Lucia is a safe area for walking, jogging and cycling and the only place where you can meet hippos in the streets looking for grass at night. DIRECTIONS: from Johannesburg / Gauteng (6,5 hours road travel) • Take the N2 to Ermelo / Piet Retief / Pongola • In Mtubatuba turn left (R618) and follow the signs to St. Lucia (25 km) • Cross the bridge over the estuary in St. Lucia • At the T-junction turn right into Mc Kenziestreet. You pass Spar Supermarket at the left side • When you see a small ticket office and Wimpy Restaurant at the left sde turn left into Dolfyn Street • Take the second street to the right (Pelicanstr) • Then the first to the left (Kuda Street) • At the end you cross the Hornbillstreet. • Follow the sign to Serene-estate Guesthouse from Durban / International airport Durban (2,5 hour road drive) • Take the N2 North direction Empangeni / Pongola • Turn off at Mtubatuba • In Mtubatuba turn right (R618) to St. Lucia (25 km) • See from third bullet ‘from Johannesburg / Gauteng’ from Kruger Park / Swasiland • Take the N4 direction Maputo • Enter Swasliand at the nearest border gate and leave at the Golela border gate • Proceed at the N2 to Mtubatuba (direction Empangeni / Richards Bay) and turn off at Mtubatuba. • Follow the R618 to St Lucia • See from second bullet ‘from Johannesburg / Gauteng’ MAP: Available at: http://www.sa-venues.com/visit/sereneestate/map.php |
