DESCRIPTION:

Sani Manor B&B is a wheelchair friendly home, set in the spacious Magistrate's orchard from a bygone era, that offers the perfect getaway destination with three luxurious double (or twin) bedrooms, each with en-suite facilities, aimed at guests seeking upmarket B&B accommodation.

Just over 2 hours from Durban or 90 minutes (110 km) from Howick (all on tarred roads), Sani Manor is set on the main road in the quiet and quaint village of Himeville, nestled in the Southern Drakensberg bordering the Ukhahlamba Drakensberg World Heritage Site .

Accommodation


One bedroom and its en-suite bathroom caters especially for wheelchair use, with a bath, shower, toilet and a wash basin. The other two bedrooms each have en-suite bathrooms, with a shower, toilet and a wash basin. Each bedroom has a mini-bar fridge. A kettle and tray with cups, saucers, sugar, tea, coffee and milk is provided for in-room refreshment. Non-alcoholic beverages are available on-site.

Crisp winter nights means all our beds are equipped with electric blankets, and heaters are provided in all bedrooms and bathrooms. Rooms are accessible both from the main house and via their own separate entrances. All bedrooms are fully serviced on a daily basis.

Facilities


The cozy guest lounge with its beautiful cypress-wood floors and lovely large fireplace, is central to the warm welcome experienced in our home, especially around an open log fire on cold evenings. Our home has a beautiful, large veranda, which is great for relaxing especially on summer evenings, enjoying a leisurely sundowner and watching the shadows lengthen as the sun sinks slowly behind the majestic mountains.

Secure parking, both covered and open, is available on the property.

Breakfast


Our tariff includes a hearty breakfast at the start of the day's adventures, and can be served indoors or outdoors depending on the weather. It comprises both cereal and cooked breakfast. We do not provide dinner, as it is well catered for being located within walking distance of the local hotel/restaurant, and we gladly make reservations upon request at any of the fine dining establishments in the area.

Attractions & Activities


The Underberg / Himeville area of the Southern Berg is arguably the most beautiful part of the Drakensberg and abounds with activities to suit everyone's indulgences. We gladly arrange excursions on our guests' behalf with local service providers.

Enjoy the outdoor splendour on several hiking trails, go mountain biking, quad biking, tubing, river rafting, gliding, abseiling, paragliding or horse riding, and visit interesting San Rock Art caves/sites. Treat yourself to a round of golf on one of several fine courses with spectacular mountain backdrops, or visit the local museum and other places of historic interest.

The area is home to the Bearded Vulture as well as many bird species to enthrall the enthusiast. Local birding experts offer guided outings. Sightings of even large raptor species and rare cranes along the roadside will often reward you unexpectedly with an unforgettable experience.

Enjoy some of the finest fly fishing on offer in the local rivers and dams, or take a 4 x 4 trip up the spectacular Sani Pass to the Highest Pub in Africa (valid passports essential).
Or, if you merely wish to relax, our crisp mountain air and tranquil setting at the foot of the majestic Southern Berg mountains will do wonders to rejuvenate body, mind and soul.

DIRECTIONS:

From the N3 (Jhb - Dbn) highway
Exit at Exit 99 Howick [Merrivale] and turn onto the R617 [Underberg] . Travel along the R617 for about 110km to Underberg (about 1h30). In Underberg, turn on to the Sani Pass road (at SHELL service station) and travel for about 5km to the village of Himeville. Sani Manor is located in Himeville on the main Sani Pass road (just before/ opposite ENGEN service station).
