The unspoilt beaches are a playground for both young and old during the day, at night the sound of the waves is a potion for sleep. There are plenty of wonderful ways to start the day, one of the best is to wake to birds singing their claim to the indigenous garden. Garden fresh fruit and vegetables find their way to the breakfast and dinner table every day. A guest once remarked, "Ironwood has a Garden of Eden ... except you can pick the fruit and you won't get thrown out". Fresh seafood is our speciality but our home cooking also covers traditional recipes. Ironwood is a family affair, Mom helps in the kitchen, Dad keeps the garden green and Caron ensures the dιcor is on the right place. Clinton and Warren take turns as head waiter and I would not manage without the cheerful capable help from Doreen, Princess, Primrose and Florence. AccommodationAll our units are sea facing, spacious, en-suite with a lounge area, upstairs have a covered terrace, downstairs have a private garden. The bedroom area is iether seperate or has been incorporated into the unit. All units have kitchenettes (tea and coffee are provided), are airconditioned and/or have ceiling fans. Bed linen and bath towels are modern, the units are serviced daily, a hair dryer is provided. The kitchenettes are for the guests convenience as we are not a self catering establishment. Upstairs Rooms Jean's Room: Bath and double shower (with private sea views), queen sized bed. Victor's Room: Bath and double shower (with private sea views), queen sized bed. Caron's Room: Family unit: Single shower, the main bedroom has a queen sized bed, the adjoining bedroom has Ύ beds. Jim's Room: Family unit with a single shower (with private sea view), the main bedroom has a queen sized bed, the adjoining bedroom has 2 single beds. Downstairs Rooms Marions Room: Double shower, queen sized bed. Sidney's Room: Bath and single shower and twin beds. Warren's Room: Single shower, double sized bed. Clinton's Room: Single shower, queen sized bed and bunk beds for 2 children. DININGFull menu: Seafood is our specialty! Guests are requested to order their meal in the morning. Facilities Swimming pool Laundry: Arrange with hosts for your washing and ironing. Beaches: An easy 200m stroll from the Lodge. Restaurants: We provide a map to 10 local restaurants. ConferencingThe conference venue is able to seat 20 with plenty space to walk around the seated guests. Break away rooms include; Dashing Dan's pub, the lounge and dining room, the gazebo's at the pool and the breakfast verandah. All conference equipment, flip charts, projectors, etc are provided. Tea and meals are served at the request of the convenor. Activities Horse riding: On the beach. Scuba diving: Experience the beauty of the deep - Equipment available for hire for those without. Game fishing: Deep-sea trips or surf fishing. Whale watching: June to October. Ski boat rides takes the viewers close-up. Bird watching: At the Lodge itself our 1-acre garden is home too many species of birds. Umdoni Park and Vernon Crookes Nature reserve has an abundance of birdlife. Steam train trip: From Port Shepstone to Harding through the beautiful Oribi Gorge. Golf: Umdoni Park Golf Course and Selborne Park Golf Estate are a 3 minute drive away. A further 5 golf courses are within 30 minutes drive: a total of nearly 30 golf courses are within an hour's drive. Crocworld: See nature's greatest living creatures in their natural living environment. Oribi Gorge: The Reserve has antelope, zebra and abundant birdlife (a picnic lunch can be provided). Old MacDonalds Farm: Enjoy a great day out for Mom, Dad and the kids. Walk amongst farm animals, take a tractor ride, children can play in the park. Eats and drinks available. Wild Coast Casino: Play the slot machines or enjoy 18 holes of Golf. |

DIRECTIONS: From Durban Airport: On the N2 after 30 minutes take the Pennington, Umzinto, Park Rynie exit off the N2. Head towards the sea and at the traffic lights turn right onto the R 102. After 10km turn left into Pennington Drive. From Port Shepstone: N2 toll plaza after 35 minutes take the Sezela, Pennington exit. Turn right onto the R 102.
