Tour Description
A must for any visitor is a trip to Cape Point, the majestic meeting place of the Indian and Atlantic Oceans. Although described by Sir Francis Drake as "the fairest Cape that we saw in the whole circumference of the globe" it has, due to the winters' stormy seas, earned its infamous name - The Cape of Storms!
We start with the scenic coastal drive from Camps Bay to Hout Bay, where you can take an optional 40 minute cruise from the Wharf to Seal Island. Then it's over Constantia Nek and onto the farm of Groot Constantia, the oldest winemaking estate in South Africa. We then head off to the Good Hope Nature Reserve at Cape Point, our main destination.
Travelling back along the east coast of the peninsula we stop off to view the Penguin Colony at Boulders beach and visit Simons Town, home to the SA Navy and Just Nuisance (we will tell you more about the most famous seaman of all on the tour). Lunch is usually taken along this stretch where there are many fine restaurants to choose from.
The tour finishes off with a walk around the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens, with over four thousand species of indigenous plants of which about 2600 are endemic to the Peninsula.
