If you have to see the new South Africa this tour is a must!. A tour to the “other side” of town shall help you understand and appreciate the continual challenges that most South Africans face daily and will give you an insight into the ethnic character of our Mother City.
Itinerary:
The Townships of the Cape Flats is where you shall meet the excited children of the areas, enjoy refreshments at a spaza (township shop), visit a shebeen (tavern), craft market and photograph the “Khayas” (township houses).
Highlights:
• District Six Museum (closed on Sundays) and a drive around the controversial suburb of District Six where the most devastating example of forced removals took place.
• Langa: The Guga S’Thebe Arts & Culture centre, Traditional healer and Shebeen (informal pub - optional).
• Bonteheuwel
• Gugulethu: Gugulethu Seven Memorial and the Amy Biehl Memorial.
• Nyanga
• Crossroads
• Khayelitsha: local B&B
