The Johannesburg Shopping Festival was designed to promote the city’s status as the African continent’s premier destination for retail and wholesale shopping. This festival also aims to showcase the many other festivals, meetings and entertainment that Johannesburg has to offer during the month of September.

Some of the shopping malls in participation of this event are the Fourways Mall, Northgate Mall, Westgate Shopping Centre, Festival Mall, Key West Mall, Village Walk in Sandton, Brightwater Commons, The Carlton Centre, Oriental Plaza, China Mall, Southgate Mall, Southgate Value Mart, Montecasino, The Zone at Rosebank and many others. Some of the malls from the greater Johannesburg area will also be taking part (Fesitval Mall in Kempton Park and Key West Mall in Krugersdorp).

Some of the other events taking place in September are: The Johannesburg Arts Alive Festival, the South African Tattoo and the Soweto Wine Festival and the Soweto Festival.
