Events in SunninghillBMW International Polo Test Series Johannesburg
Look forward to the popular BMW International Series taking place in September this year. Playing against a touring international team, the first test is to be played at Shongweni, Hillcrest in Durban on 13 September and the second at the Waterfall Polo Park in Sunninghill Johannesburg on 20 September.
The BMW International Polo Series is played against a touring international team each year. The first Test (always on a Sunday) is played at the Durban Shongweni Club and the second Test (which takes place on the following Sunday) is played at the spacious Waterfall Polo Estate in Sunninghill, Johannesburg. 2015 marks the 26th year of partnership between BMW South Africa and the SA Polo Association, this being one of the longest-running consecutive sports sponsorships in South Africa. Our gratitude is extended to BMW’s long standing support of South African Polo as through the BMW sponsorship, the SA Polo Association is able to invite leading polo nations to play in South Africa and through this, test our local high goal players and National side in the International arena. The collaboration also allows the Association to invest in the development of polo through its transformation policy.
The South African Polo Association is delighted to announce that New Zealand have accepted our invitation to participate in the 2015 BMW International Polo Series. They will be sending a 23 goal team and the dates are Sunday 13 September at Shongweni in Durban and Sunday 20 September at Waterfall in Johannesburg. The team will be captained by the well-known John Paul Clarkin who currently plays off an 8 goal handicap. This will be the sixth tour by New Zealand to South Africa for this Series, with the touring team having been victorious on the previous four occasions. The South Africans will have everything to play for this year!
