Franklin Roosevelt Park, Randburg
On the north-west side of Johannesburg, the bustling capital city of the Gauteng Province and epicentre of commerce and entertainment in South Africa, is Franklin Roosevelt Park. This pretty suburb boasts large family homes with lovely gardens, giving the entire area a fabulously laid-back ambience in the heart of the excitement and buzz that characterises Jo’burg.
Franklin Roosevelt Park is intersected by Beyers Naudé Drive, which is a major motorway that links the centre of Johannesburg to many of the suburbs and industrial areas further away. It is, therefore, extremely convenient for travellers staying in Franklin Roosevelt Park to have ease of access to many other attractions and activities in and around the City of Gold.
This residential area is situated within Randburg, which is a neighbour to the shopping Mecca of Sandton. This vibey hub never seems to sleep and will delight shopaholics and party people with its range of retail and entertainment options. Randburg is also neighbour to Roodepoort, which is home to the best-known botanical gardens in the city, the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden. Bird lovers should keep an eye out for the nesting pair of Verreaux’s eagles that have made this garden their home, much to the delight of spectators that get to see their majesty and elegance.
It is also surrounded by the areas of Montreux, Northcliff (an affluent suburb that is flanked by the CBD and some of the prettiest verdant suburbs of the city), Victory Park Estate (an older suburb with stunning bird life) and Waterval Estate.
