Edenvale is a suburb situated in the East Rand area in Gauteng, South Africa.
Edenvale started out in 1903 as a small settlement named Rietfontein which sprung up around the Rietfontein Gold Mine. Today, Edenvale has become a very well known part of Johannesburg. It lies approximately halfway between the O.R. Tambo International Airport and the city centre. This makes it a very comfortable spot to live and visit as it is quite close to all the major parts of Johannesburg and a range of fantastic activities. Edenvale is a very quiet town which ranges from the middle class areas such as Eastleigh to the upper class areas such Dowerglen or Bedfordview.
Edenvale boasts the atmosphere of a peaceful town and one often forgets just how close it is to the city and all the bustling routes. Therefore, many places of interest are not in Edenvale but are close enough to take a drive to and are well worth the effort. These places include Gillooly’s Farm, Horwood’s Farm and numerous large shopping malls such as Eastgate and the East Rand Shopping Mall which is just minutes away.
Edenvale boasts a tranquility that many enjoy when wishing to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. There is a beautiful and undulating Linksfield Golf Club here as well as many superb areas which offer a range of sporting and recreation facilities. Edenvale affords one the opportunity to sit back and relax whilst enjoying the tranquil surroundings. Even when you become tired of relaxing, it is just minutes away from all superb amenities and entertainment facilities.
