Enjoy a tranquil getaway at Thanda Tau in Vrede, near Warden in Thabo Mofutsanyana. Guests can enjoy a true South African experience, luxury accommodation, outstanding service and a warm, friendly welcome.

Our wildlife farm has a number of animal species which cannot be viewed easily anywhere else as the populations have become extinct in the wild. Here at Thanda Tau we have a range of fabulous facilities to keep you entertained during your stay.

Accommodation

Our 11 luxury chalets and two group chalets (dorms) are a reflection of the environment in which they are located. Each room has a touch of colour and a display of different artworks to create a unique finish.

We have a number of group chalets (women only and men only chalets) with bunk beds. These chalets have shared bathroom facilities and a communal lounge area with a TV, DStv, bar fridge and a kettle.

The rest of the chalets sleep two adults each and contain either a queen size bed or two three-quarter beds. These chalets have en-suite bathrooms with either a bath / shower or both. These chalets come equipped with complimentary toiletries, a hair dryer, espresso machine and capsules, bar fridge, kettle, TV with Netflix and a safe.

The stay was relaxed and quiet. However, quite a number of things marred a really good experience. Our booking was for the Vlakhaas unit, where the water never reached a temperature warm enough for a bath or shower. We ended up boiling multiple kettles of water to try and warm up the bath water. The remote/television did not work. On the second day Maintenance tried to solve the issues, but we were eventually asked to move to the Jakkals unit. There was no fridge, the TV remote worked for a few minutes, and then stopped, so no television. Once again, hot water too cold for a comfortable bath or shower. Hopefully, if we have to stay over again in future, we will encounter none of these glitches. Regards Andrew Quixley
