About Serene-Estate Guesthouse
The synthesis of architecture, landscape, nature and specific lay-out is decisive for the distinctive atmosphere and experience. Located at the best place in ‘hippo-town' St Luciaall surrounded by nature of World Heritage Site iSimangalisoWetlands Park. The small town is the only place where you can meet hippos in the streets at night. St Lucia with a lot of facilities is a real tourism destination and a perfect gateway to a wide variety of activities as well.
The Dutch design is a mixture of minimalistic architecture and New Forms with the characteristic bent lines. For the warmth of African atmosphere we have used bright colours and lighting effects.
The lay out is clear: from the central entrance / reception with staircases you have access to the 6 rooms, lounge, breakfast room / big terrace with roof garden and pond and back garden with pool / park. You can experience the adjacent park from different levels.
St Lucia Accommodation
All roomshave a very convenient black quartz floor. Each room has a comfortable sitting area inside and outside and is fitted with air-conditioning (heating and cooling), ceiling fan, mini bar, big flat screen DStv, wall safe, king size bed with Auping mattresses (Dutch quality), free Wi-Fi, hair dryer, coffee and tea facilities. The bathrooms are very luxurious with (double) basins, separate toilet, bath, separate shower and towel heater.
Park View Suite
These rooms (50 m2) are situated at the back site with the gardens, pool and wetland park. The spacious and very luxurious guest rooms have big windows. From comfortable chairs on the private terrace you can see wildlife including bushbuck, red duiker, monkeys, mongoose and a variety of birds. After sunset you can hear the loud call of the bush baby and hippos can be spotted from a short distance. The nature in KwaZulu Natal is very diverse and colourful. We have tried to bring this atmosphere into the rooms. Each room has its own coloured accent.
Garden Rooms
This room (37 m2) is situated at the front side of Serene and has a 90 m2 private garden.
Facilities
Lounge with dinner/reading table, bookcase, Nespresso coffee, tea and soft drinks, adjoining terrace with real fish pond and roof garden with wide view into the park, deep salt water pool for real swimmers (12 x 5 x m') with martini deck and rim flow with at both sides sun decks, credit card facilities, laundry service and excursions bookings.
Attractions and Activities
At only 10 min. walk from all amenities (restaurants, craft market, shops) and walking trails, Serene-estate is ideal for visiting the pristine beaches, varied landscapes and big 5 game parks, but also for walking, jogging, cycling, horse riding etc. St Lucia is a safe and malaria free area.
From Serene-estate as base you can explore the whole area and visit a lot of tourist attractions. We can arrange the following activities for you:
