We had an amazing Christmas away at Rivers own. The amenities are top notch, and loadshedding was not even a problem. The peace, tranquility and fresh air was a welcomed experience after a tough post Covid year. We even enjoyed having the dogs visit a few times. The kids and adults alike had the best time. We will definitely be back.

Boys weekend away saying goodbye to a friend moving overseas. All I can say, is that the guest lodge was pure magic - the most incredible weekend away we have had in a long time. The area/scenery you cannot beat - your own river, mountains, large grass area to play some soccer or cricket, etc on. The lodge has everything thing you need for self catering and more, everything is well maintained. Having a massive braai inside and outside, and having a big fireplace for 'atmosvuur' and warmth inside was everything we could of hoped for. Take a dip in the lake, swim in the sparkling pool and then chill in the wood fired hot tub. Extra touches include aircons in all rooms and also electric blankets on all the beds. Never ran out of hot water and the water pressure is excellent for showers. The amount of wood you get for your stay - will never run out and is most generous. From all 11 of us boys we will remember the weekend for the rest of our lives, we will definitely be back sooner than later :)

We had a really great time at Rivers Own. What an exceptional setting for the lodge. Mountains, water and greenery, what more can you want on a break from city life. We loved it there, the peace and quiet, waking to the sound of birdsong, the gurgling river and the wind whistling through the trees made for a remarkable three days. It was probably the most relaxing and tranquil time I've had in a very long. None of us missed the TV,laptops were not even opened and phones were used to the minimum. And that in itself says something about the place. Also, the manager(?) Hassan was a great help.Always willing to help with a smile and friendly too.

Awesome location, house fully equiped with much more than is expected , owners go out of their way to ensure that your stay is one to remember. Crisp white linen on the beds, huge kitchen, lovely lounge area for relaxing late at night having spent the evening sitting outside. Wonderful braai area. Loved the pool and clear river where we spent 90% of our day. Have already booked to go back. AN ABSOLUTE GEM. Words cannot actually explain how beautiful it is here.
