Attractions
The Virginia Airport is virtually on Glenashley's doorstep, yet another reason for staying here. You're close to the Beachwood Mangroves Nature Reserve here, on the north bank of the Umgeni or Umgeni River. The area is a natural haven and used as an education centre for nature conservation.
Many a school outing is planned for the black, red and white mangrove swamp, its sea snails, creeping plants and magnificent bird life that includes the mangrove kingfisher and Natal nightjar if you're lucky. Umhlanga's Gateway shopping mall provides hours of entertainment and shopping and, if the beaches no longer hold an attraction for you, then Sibaya and Suncoast are both close enough for a day's outing.
