Ebbie and Minette Hattingh invite you to a delightful farm experience at the Mooivlei Guest Farm in Lady Grey.

The Hattinghs moved to Mooivlei with the dream to develop the beautiful sandstone ruins into a guest farm where visitors can come and find rest from the business of life. The two cottages, dating back 60 years and now newly refurbished, have a stunning view towards the Lady Grey Mountain and what a delight to visitors when the sheep graze the fields right next to the cottages.

Accommodation

We offer you two very comfortable and homely stone cottages which are fully furnished and consist of an open plan bedroom, dining area and kitchen. The kitchen is fitted with a gas stove / gas oven unit and electrical fridge with a freezer compartment. Cooking and eating utensils are provided. There is a separate bathroom with bath and shower in Cottage 1 and a shower in Cottage 2.

Cottage 1 is suitable for a family of four where the two kids sleep on a bunk bed. It also has a carport attached. Both units are furnished with a fire pot to create a very snug and cosy interior in the winter times. The combination of solid timber floors, thick sandstone walls and insulated roof produce a very comfortable room temperature.

With nature on your door step and so many exciting things to do, we have not fitted the units with television. There is however excellent Wi-Fi available. Please ask for data package prices.

On Site Activities Attractions

For the nature lovers and adventure seekers there are many things to do. After a good rainy season the Eendracht Dam pushes up to 1km in length and provides hours of fun; canoeing and bird watching.

We are very proud of our diverse collection of water birds and have recently identified breeding pairs of Whiskered Terns. The farm offers many gravel roads for mountain biking, hiking and jogging. In the veld we have frequent sightings of Secretary Birds, Mahems, Ludwig's Bustards and the very special Burchell's Courser.

Location & Attractions

Mooivlei Guest Farm is situated between Aliwal North and Lady Grey in the Eastern Cape and only 8km off the R58. From Aliwal it is a 30 minute drive and a mere 20 minute drive from the lovely town of Lady Grey.

You will find restaurants and grocery stores in Aliwal North. In Lady Grey you will come across delightful coffee shops and artist studios. There are many opportunities for trout fishing in the area and the 4x4 enthusiast have eight different passes to choose from within a kilometre radius.
