Louis at Magwa Falls is a semi-off-grid, family-run retreat offering rustic, comfortable and truly off-the-beaten-track accommodation on the Wild Coast. Set in the peaceful KuGwexintaba village in the Goso Forest, just 20 km outside Lusikisiki and only 3 km from the dramatic Magwa Falls, this is a place where nature is the highlight and the experience begins the moment you arrive.

Surrounded by rolling green hills, indigenous forest and the distant shimmer of the ocean, it is the ideal destination for families, couples and adventure seekers looking to unwind, disconnect and reconnect with their surroundings.

Accommodation

Accommodation is offered in two charming rondavels – The Crowned Eagle House and The Family Rondavel – as well as several private camping spots in the garden.

The Crowned Eagle House sits atop a plateau ridge beside a small waterfall at the edge of the Goso State Forest. Overlooking sweeping hills, it offers a peaceful retreat where birdsong fills the day. This rondavel includes its own private kitchen and an en-suite bathroom for complete comfort and convenience.

The Family Rondavel is perfect for groups or families, featuring one double bed and two bunk beds. Guests have use of a communal kitchen, communal ablution facilities with hot showers and a composting toilet overlooking the forest. A nearby braai area with comfortable seating offers panoramic views and a tranquil outdoor living space.

For guests who prefer to be even closer to nature, camping is available in various secluded garden spots.

Facilities

Guests can relax and enjoy breathtaking views upon arrival, from endless rolling green hills to the ocean glimmering in the distance. The surrounding area offers numerous viewpoints and a beautiful forest to explore at your leisure. Evenings are best spent around the campfire under a star-filled sky, listening to the sounds of the night settling in. Early risers are rewarded with unforgettable sunrises and the silence of deep rural Africa.

A vehicle with high ground clearance is required to access the property. If needed, transfers from Lusikisiki can be arranged at an additional fee. The journey to Louis at Magwa Falls is an experience in itself, taking you through rural villages and landscapes dotted with colourful Mpondo huts, livestock and local life.

Area Information

Your host, Louis, offers guided tours and hikes to some of the Wild Coast’s most iconic natural attractions. Guests can book excursions to Magwa Falls, Waterfall Bluff and several lesser-known waterfalls, with options ranging from easy to moderate hikes. These adventures may include beaches, cliffs, mountain pools and lush indigenous forests. Meditation retreats and gardening workshops are also available on request.
