The hotel is a historical gem from the first days of mining far north in the Lowveld. It gives you the real feeling of being in the bush, far away from everything, with chameleons on the path, evening drinks with locals in the bar, and muddy roads with too much rain. You don't go here for 5 star treatment but to experience life in an off-the-track area where the residents have to find their own solutions to all sorts of handyman problems and cannot just call someone. The best is Pirate, the hugely friendly dog of the hotel. And do go by the Groot Kremetaart (the Big Baobab) on the road from Gravelotte and let David explain the history of the tree for a small fee, take pictures and go into the internal cave in the tree.

What a experience to have stayed at he Leydsorp Hotel. Beautiful people and sooo much history. A special thank you to Zelma for making our visit extra special. There is so much history at the Leydsdorp Hotel that we didn't know about. Very unique and mostly original antiques kept to give an extra special feeling to this historic hotel. The food was delicious!!! Will recommend the Leydsdorp Hotel over and over and we hope to visit it again.

Enjoyed to quiet, out of the way place, with real history and old style buildings! Pub and food was good!
