Issey118 Heritage Cottage

Very convenient. Leave the car and stroll around the village. William, the manager, was exceptionally attentive. He provided hangers in addition to the 4 here, lent us his ironing board and bought a top sheet. The bedding was spotless and the bathroom clean. The bed was comfy. The cottage itself is 'heritage' but the interior is in need of a fair bit of tlc - stained rugs, grubby and torn arm chair covers, stained dining chair, one with a torn seat. The lounger on the stoop is also grubby. The covered area at the back looks out on to a heap of scrap. We needed to use both bedrooms as the wardrobe in the main bedroom has no shelves and the drawer contained a large (and thankfully dead insect). We had been very impressed by the photos on the website. The roof (over the bathroom) leaked in the rain storm We were also surprised not to find hand soap in either bathroom. For travellers from overseas little gestures mean a lot and we often find guests have been provided with a few basics like kitchen roll, salt but this cottage doesn't. The local general store is a treasure trove of all things useful. Stock up on food in Hermanus unless don't intend to cook. Would we stay here again? No.

We were kindly granted an early check in which allowed us to avoid the crazy Easter weekend traffic. The cottage is spacious and superbly located with everything within walking distance. Our 2 French bulldogs loved the big garden and we often had to go and hunt for them. The pizza oven is a win and the overnight slow roasted lamb turned out rather well, pizzas the night before as well. There is nothing we could fault about the cottage at all, was great not to have a TV for a change. Thank you Willem.
