About Ambleside Lodge

Ambleside Lodge lies at the base of the magnificent Southern Drakensberg mountains, framed by mature trees and gentle streams. Just three hours from Durban, this secluded mountain retreat occupies an elevated position on a ten-acre estate, offering uninterrupted views of both Rhino Peak and Castle End.

Self-Catering Accommodation

Ambleside Lodge provides refined self-catering accommodation for up to eight guests. It features three en suite bedrooms and a smaller fourth bedroom. The master suite includes a king-size bed and an en suite bathroom with a separate shower and a jacuzzi bath.

The second bedroom is furnished with a queen-size bed and has an en suite bathroom with a combined bath and shower. The third bedroom contains two single beds with an en suite bathroom that includes a bath, while the fourth bedroom also offers two single beds. Quality linen and bath towels are supplied for all guests.

The living area is generously proportioned, showcasing polished wooden floors, a ten-seater dining table, and a welcoming lounge with a fireplace that is ideal for cool evenings. The kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher, washing machine, refrigerator, microwave, coffee machine, and a complete range of crockery and cutlery, ensuring every convenience is on hand.

A wide wrap-around verandah encircles the lodge, offering multiple seating areas. The built-in braai area features a dining table and benches, while an inviting outdoor lounge opens onto a large, level, lawned garden. Carefully positioned seating areas take full advantage of the scenery, from the breathtaking sunrise over Castle End to the commanding view of Rhino Peak from the master bedroom.
