Buçaco Sud is situated against the Kogelberg Mountains on the scenic whale coast route between Gordon's Bay and Hermanus, in the town of Betty's Bay, only 1 hour drive from Cape Town.

Buçaco Sud is off the main road (Clarence Drive) and is sign-posted. Being a part of Southern Africa's first internationally recognised Biosphere Nature Reserve (The Kogelberg) the whole area is considered the heart of the Cape Floral Kingdom with some 1600 species. Betty's Bay is also home to the Harold Porter National Botanical gardens with indigenous flowers, fynbos covered mountain slopes, waterfalls and dark pools, are within minutes walking from the guest-house.

Accommodation


Stylishly decorated with spectacular views from everywhere, fire places in the dinning room and lounge, magnificent garden courtyard with swimming pool. There are 5 double rooms and one twin bedded room, each individually decorated, all with en-suite showers. A special room "Southern Right" with a Victorian bath is ideal for Honeymoon couples.

Superior Top Floor Rooms


All 4 top floor rooms are superior with queen sized beds, TV's and complimentary beverage tray, this includes the "Southern Right" or honeymoon room with the Victorian bath. Either sea or mountain / pool patio facing.

SOUTHERN RIGHT, named for the gentle giant whale, which visits our shores between May and November, also referred to as the "Honeymoon Room". Queen-size bed, en-suite Victorian bath, tea / coffee facilities, TV, sea and mountain view.

SHANGRI-LA, the original name of the National Harold Porter Botanic Garden situated near the house. Leading out onto a wooden deck / terrace, Queen-size bed, en-suite shower, tea / coffee facilities, TV, mountain and pool facing.

KOGELBERG, named for the mountain range towering over the back garden of the house. Twin beds, en-suite shower, tea / coffee facilities, TV, mountain and pool facing.

PERLEMOEN, named for the local sea delicacy on the endangered list (abalone). Queen-size bed, en-suite shower, tea / coffee making facilities, TV, sea facing.

Standard Rooms


There are two standard sea facing rooms on the lower floor with double beds and beverage facilities. These rooms lead out through French doors onto a sea facing terrace with your personal patio furniture.

DISCOVERIES, named in honour of the Portuguese Navigators. Standard double bed, en-suite shower, tea / coffee facilities. Sea facing, leading to an outdoor terrace, with own patio furniture.

PENGUIN, named for the resident African penguin colony in Betty’s Bay. Standard double bed, en-suite shower, tea / coffee facilities. Sea facing, leading to an outdoor terrace, with own patio furniture.

Dining


A choice of breakfasts offered, special functions such as weddings and private parties catered for. A variety of good restaurants, coffee shops, pizzerias available within this area, we will gladly assist you in making the right choice.

Additional Facilities


Other facilities include complimentary tea, coffee and cookies in all rooms, satellite television in lounge, tons of reading material, telephone, fax and internet facilities. For those wishing to have the self-catering option, several houses are available.

Conversant in English / Afrikaans / French / Portuguese and Spanish with a good knowledge of German and Italian.

Betty's Bay


There are superb sandy beaches, fresh water lakes, a coastal marine reserve and a colony of African penguins (one of only three on the African continent). Magnificent views of sea and mountains all around. Cape Otters, seals and dolphins are often seen and from June to November the Southern Right Whale is sighted just off-shore.

A heaven for the outdoor enthusiast, with bird watching, swimming, canoeing, surfing, diving, fishing, white water rafting in winter, dune boarding, various walks and trails, and within short driving distances tennis, bowls and golf can be enjoyed. Buçaco Sud is ideally situated as a base to explore the Cape, wine farms and other nearby attractions.
