West Coast Escape is the perfect getaway for a group of friends or family, just 80km from Cape Town. Wake up to the sound of birds, and the ocean breeze. You might see a few dolphins playing in the waves or a whale passing through from the deck.
Our accommodation and the atmosphere at West Coast Escape is really something else. There are secluded white beaches just 300 meters away, and the main 8 kilometre stretch of beach is just a kilometre away.
We are a luxury self-catering facility and will provide you with whatever you need. Stay as long as you want, be as active as you please, or just enjoy the scenery and chill out. We can accommodate up to six people.
We have two en-suite sea facing rooms, with DSTV-PVR. The 3rd room has mountain views, and a fire place. The 3rd room has its own bathroom with shower next to the room. All the rooms are very tastefully decorated, with king size beds which can also be changed into single beds.
The kitchen is in the centre of the three rooms. The kitchen is stocked with all the utensils, crockery, and cutlery you will need. It has a big refrigerator, four plate stove, microwave etc. Each room walks out onto the deck. The deck is a big 60m2 area with a bar (not stocked), wood and gas braai, dining table, and loungers to relax and chill on. Here you can enjoy yourself the area is at the back of the house away from the south-eastern wind… There is also an indoor braai area downstairs for you to use when the weather is not suitable to braai outdoors.
After dinner you can have a taste of the “bushveld” when you sit around a cosy fire at the boma area in the back garden. The unit is rented out as a whole, so you will not be sharing the space with anyone else.
Fishing, surfing, biking, bird watching, kiting, kite surfing, wind surfing etc.
!kwa ttu: Game reserve 10km away, where you can learn some more about the ‘Koi san’, and also view some game
Buffelsfontein: 20km away, here you can go for a game drive, and even feed the cheetahs.
Darling: 20km from Yzerfontein. On your way there stop and have a look at the beautiful West Coast flowers. Visit the historical ‘Evitas Peron’, have lunch and learn more about Evita Bezuidenhout’s history. Visit wine and olive farms and do some tastings.
The coastline has 19 miles of beautiful sandy white beaches. The '16-Mile Beach' stretches all the way to the land mass which forms the barrier between the Langebaan Lagoon and the sea (within the West Coast National Park). This offers a prime spot for surfing.
The bay is a favoured destination for whales (Southern Right and Humpbacked) in the spring (Aug - Nov). These gentle giants of the ocean come into the bay to calve. There are a number of vantage points from which visitors can watch the whales play in the sea.
The West Coast National Park stretches from the north of Yzerfontein to Saldanha Bay. It includes the Potsberg Nature reserve, Langebaan Lagoon and the Jutten, Malgas, Marcus and Schaapen Islands. The park is home to more than 250 bird species. Annually, about 70 000 birds from Siberia and northern Russia travel south to breed in the West Coast National Park.
