If you have come to the berg to let your hair down, or relax, we will make sure you get to do just that. We have half an acre of secure garden in which to suntan, play croquet, badminton, cricket, table tennis, or unwind on the patio with a book and something cold, listening to the birds and taking in an awesome sunset over the magnificent Hodgson’s peaks. Take a slow drive to see our award winning museum (which was a fort), or to an animal farm with a curio shop where you can stop for lunch, and then onto the cheese farm, 1km further on. Have a picnic at the Himeville nature reserve, Kenmo lake, Cobham or Bushman’s Nek. Now to really let your hair down, what about river tubing (we have tubes), hiking, fishing (bass or trout), horse riding, quad bikes and 4x4 tours up Sani Pass (passport essential), bowls, tennis, squash, golf, or paintball (all within 10 km) of us, then snuggle into bed, and in the morning, wake up to a full English breakfast. Under the Berg offers Bed & Breakfast and Backpacker Accommodation in Underberg in the Southern Drakensberg, KwaZulu Natal. BED & BREAKFAST ACCOMMODATIONRondavel: Double and single bed, shower en suite. Main Room: Double bed with private bathroom. Family Room: 3-4 single beds, depending on requirements, with shower en suite. All three rooms at Under The Berg come equipped with DSTV, Kettle, Fridge (Tea, Coffee, Sugar, Milk, Water supplied), electric blankets, heaters and hairdryers. Guests are welcome to join us in the lounge at any time, and on chilly winter nights there will be a cosy fire, sherry and good company. Our rooms are smoke free. Secure off-road open parking and 4 shaded bays. Backpacker Accommodation:3 double bunks, linen and towels provided, with a cosy fireplace. Braai facilities, kettle, (coffee, tea, sugar and milk), bar fridge, double hot plate, crockery and cutlery. Ablutions consists of double shower, basin and separate toilet. Breakfast and dinner available on request. DININGThere are five restaurants / pubs within 5km of Unter The Berg, or if you would like to stay in for dinner, we have braai/webber facilities. Dinners and picnic baskets arranged by prior arrangement. Local Activities:Table Tennis and other games on site. 9-hole golf course and squash courts (less than 1km). Horse Riding, Paint Ball, Quad Biking, Animal Farm (within 10km). Tennis (5km). Sani Pass Tours by quad or 4x4 to highest pub in Africa, and Traditional African Village (passports essential). Great hiking (Bushmans Nek, Cobham, Drak Gardens and Lotheni) 5-day Giant’s cup trail from Sani to Bushman’s Nek (drop-off and pick-up can be arranged).
