At the foot of the majestic Swartberg Mountain Range, in the heart of the Little Karoo, lies the exclusive Swartberg Private Wildlife Estate. The estate borders the Swartberg Reserve, part of South Africa’s newest world heritage site, the Cape Floristic Region. Guests can now share in this special environment with the opening of the Swartberg Private Game Lodge, an intimate Lodge of nine guest rooms, offering personalised service. A restored farmhouse still exudes the appeal of the Karoo Colonial style, with an air of understated sophistication. The estate is home to a wide variety of large mammals including the rare Cape Mountain Zebra, Giraffe, Blue Wildebeest, Eland, Nyala, Lechwe, Kudu, Gemsbok, Springbuck and Impala. AccommodationAll rooms can accommodate beds either made up as single or king size. A total of nine beautifully appointed bedrooms draw inspiration from the endemic flora or fauna. Six of the rooms are extra-spacious with full bathrooms en-suite, whilst the other three have shower facilities en-suite. All rooms are equipped with tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryers, personal safes and ceiling fans. Sleeper couches provide easy additional bedding for children sharing with adults in the larger rooms, without impacting on their spaciousness. FacilitiesThe Lodge facilities include a comfortable lounge and dining area, a communal DSTV television and expansive patios, but guests can choose to retreat to their own accommodation, each room having its own private patio. A swimming pool provides relief on hot summer days. Game Drives & ActivitiesGuests can enjoy luxurious, spacious and tastefully decorated rooms as their base, whilst exploring the predator-free surrounds from the comfort of a game-drive vehicle with an experienced ranger, or for the more energetic, on foot. The area is also ideal for mountain biking. A limited number of quad bikes are available for exploring the environment with an experienced guide.
