Situated in the stunning Swartland wine district of the Cape, Suikerbossie is a gorgeous newly-renovated 3 bedroom (all en-suite) cottage in the heart of Riebeek Kasteel.

Suikerbossie is centrally situated on the corner of Skool and Van Riebeeck Streets and is a mere stone’s throw from world-class restaurants, pubs, shops and the renowned wine and olive boutiques of this unspoilt and charming village. This delightful area is known for its Shiraz and famous wine farms. Well-known Kloovenburg and Allesverloren are a scenic 5 minutes drive away and offer wine tastings and sales of their signature vintage wines.

The nearest beach, Yzerfontein, is 45 minute away by car and Langebaan, Stellenbosch and Franschoek with all their attractions, are conveniently close.

Accommodation

Quirky Cape decorator, Salomé Gunter, was given carte blanche to design Suikerbossie’s beautiful interior and she did it with her usual style. The cottage can accommodate up to six guests (Bedroom 1 with a queen size bed, Bedroom 2 with two single beds and Bedroom 3 with a double bed). Each uniquely decorated bedroom invites you to snuggle with 200 thread count Thornvale designer linen. For added comfort, each bedroom opens onto the wrap-around stoep and has its own en-suite bathroom.

Facilities

Suikerbossie boasts a fully-equipped, modern kitchen with all the necessary crockery, cutlery, pots, pans and utensils for self-catering. If you don’t feel like cooking, or dining out at one of the 12 fine restaurants in town, local gourmet chefs, Coenie and Johan, will prepare and deliver mouthwatering platters at your doorstep. Just order from their fabulous menu, sit back and relax!

The kitchen, sitting room and dining area with its old-fashioned wooden table all open onto the stoep or patio area via wooden French doors. Another fabulous chill-out area, with a wooden dining table and seating for eight people, is situated under the cool pergola near the pool.

Cool in summer and snuggly in winter
For maximum comfort during the long, hot summer, each bedroom has a colonial paddle fan above the bed. Or chill out by having a dip in our cool splash pool and enjoy the shady stoep.
In winter you’ll remain cosy and snug, as each en-suite bathroom has underfloor heating. The central fireplace in the lounge keeps the whole house warm and toasty.

Old farm stoep

The wrap-around farm stoep is reminiscent of the 1920’s and is the perfect spot to watch village life go by (it goes without saying that you’ll be sipping a glass of local Shiraz and nibbling on an olive or two while you do this! ) With its built-in bench, chairs and table, the stoep is ideal for al fresco meals and, of course, South Africa’s favourite entertainment, a traditional braai.
