Muizenberg Accommodation / Sonstraal Guest House Muizenberg Accommodation / B&B and Self Catering in Muizenberg

Muizenberg was once the most famous beach resort of the Cape but even though its fame has diminished somewhat, the beach is still beautiful and stretches as far as you can see. The Vlei (lagoon) is right on our doorstep, with its Kingfishers and water sport possibilities.

Sonstraal Guest House has a special atmosphere, not only because of its age, but also because of the warm entrance and big dining room. This house is fully reserved for our guests and has 5 bedrooms en suite. At the back there is a covered terrace and a braai (barbecue) area. A short walk takes you to the beach. (Muizenberg Beach has the highest sea temperature at the Cape.)

Accommodation

Sonstraal Guest House offers tastefully decorated bed and breakfast rooms, of which 5 (of the 7) have en-suite bathrooms. Sonstraal Guest House also offers self catering units with fully equipped kitchens. There are tea-making facilities in the rooms and all self catering units have Television and fully equipped kitchens with fridge and microwave. Credit cards accepted. Dutch spoken und ein wenig Deutsch.

Breakfast

A full breakfast is served on the terrace or in the dining room at the 12 seating yellow wood table. The dining room and lounge have a beautiful view over the Zandvlei, the only working lagoon on the False Bay coast, and the mountains.

Muizenberg

Children can have great fun at the big pool with water slide, miniature golf course, playing area on the beach edge in the village, but also the sea is very child-friendly because the water gets deeper only very gradually. Of course, you must not forget to bring your surf- or body board.

A very nice walk (not even half an hour) along the sea to St. James is another possibility (looking for shells between the rocks at surfers corner) and you could return over the Main Road, where there are small museums you could visit, like Rhodes Cottage and the Natal Labia Art Museum.

Muizenberg also has a train station, which takes you not only to the centre of Cape Town, but a train trip in the direction of Simons Town along the beach front is a beautiful one. To step out in Kalk Bay with its charming antique shops, restaurants and/or in Fish Hoek is another option. In the season you can also see the whales in the Bay. On Sundays there is a very nice flee market, only minutes walking away, near the beach.

A visit to Cape Point and the penguin colony in Simons' Town (Boulders Beach), the wine routes, Silvermine Nature Reserve, Chapmans Peak drive and Westlake Golf course are all recommended.
