The Restore Mountain Cottage at the foot of Dasberg Mountain, (part of the Riviersonderend mountain range) slows you down, nudges you into the slower, gentler rhythms of yesteryear. Only 4 km off the N2 and completely private (situated 50km from Swellendam and 30km from Bonnievale, 50km from Bredasdorp and 80km from the most Southern point of Africa) the cottage is an ideal base from which to explore the Overberg Region of the Western Cape, South Africa. (1½ hours beautiful drive from Cape Town) AccommodationThe cottage provides fully equipped accommodation for up to 6 people - 3 bedrooms (2 bedrooms with a double bed each and a 3rd bedroom with two single beds). Linen (percale) and towels are provided. The cottage has a comfortable living and dining area and an outside 'braai' / barbecue (fire-wood is supplied). There is no electricity. Candles and oil-lamps provide light, the kitchen has an open fire hearth and water in the bathroom is heated by a gas geyser. The bathroom has a toilet, shower and wash basin. FacilitiesRestore has an old-world ambience, complete with fireplace in the kitchen and wood stove in the voorkamer. The cottage is fully equipped with everything you'll need in a house straight from the twentieth century. There are candles, oil lamps, iron pots and enamelware for the wood stove and two benches on the sunny side of the house for contented reclining once you've stoked the fire and prepared countrific soulfood. There are hand-made quilts, hot water bottles and fresh mountain water from the pristine Meulstroom that runs through the kloof close to the cottage. Attractions & ActivitiesYou'll find yourself relaxing and restored amidst a tranquil and inspiring landscape, between fynbos, canola- and wheat lands. Sheep and cattle are your neighbours. Come and enjoy • Walking in the Dasberg-mountain and fynbos • Enjoyable mountain-bike rides and ungraveld roads • Swimming in the Riviersonderend river • Picnic in the 'veld' • Bird watching The cottage looks out onto the Riviersonderend Mountains and a trail leads from the front door into a rich fynbos reserve. Dasberg Mountain is home to the Cape Edelweiss (Lanaria lanata), rare fern species and the Protea lorea, whose blooms touch the soil and whose leaves look like grass. Its seclusion between mountain, fields and fynbos offers one a sense of splendid isolation. The silence that enfolds the cottage like a snug karos is broken only by the contented chewing of small Angus cattle and merinos that graze the yellow carpet of canola flowers in front of the house.
