Our first trip to South Africa and having booked to stay in Cape Town to start off, wanted to stay in a country house but near a village in the Walker5 Bay area. Initially looked for something in the Hermanus area and then by chance found Reiersvlei Farm on the web. Although 6km out of what turned out to be the most delightful village of Stanford (fascinating history) I took the plunge and booked. And were we glad we did. Wow !! what a stunning house. The view of the mountains as the sun comes up, stillness all about and the mist rising and the dawn chorus beginning was breathtaking. In the evening with the barbeque ( braai ) on sitting on the huge veranda with a beer in hand and the reds and oranges of the setting sun - heaven on earth. Will certainly come again, especially to see the Whales which we missed because of the time of the year. Thank you Barry and Adrienne Jones for the welcome and all the help.

I took my family to see my home country after many years of being away in America. I originally come from Cape Town but I wanted to stay in the Walker Bay Area to see the Whales and be in a quiet spot with facilities for the family - swimming pool and nearby resteraunts. Stanford is a unique village for South Africa and Reiersvlei Farm was absolutley stunning in its setting, the house and the furnishings and facilities. Mr. and Mrs Jones who live in a cottage set apart were most welcoming and sorted everything out for us. I have told all my friends in San Diego if they go to SA and Cape Town they MUST go and stay at Reiersvlei. I envy Prof. Brown, the owner, who is a South African but a doctor practising in England for having such a glorious place.
