An extraordinary house in an extraordinary location. Directly on Blouberg Beach, one of the top beaches in South Africa. Nothing between you and the beach other than your own green grass. White sand as far as the eye can see. The view of Table Mountain - the one on all the book covers and post cards - unobstructed and from almost every room in the house.

The house was designed in the 1960's by Revel Fox, South Africa's most renowned architect. It was built for our family and is considered a South African landmark. Expanded and totally renovated in 2008/9, we kept the original form while adding a second story and putting in all new everything.

Self Catering Accommodation

In total, four bedrooms and three and a half baths, sleeping eight. On the lower level you have a master king suite and two additional bedrooms (two x twin beds, each), and two full baths, all located very privately toward the back of the house. Additional powder room for guests.

Toward the front of the house, you have a large, fully-equipped “cooks” kitchen with gas stove and separate scullery and laundry area. A breakfast bar separates the kitchen from a formal sitting and dining area, where you will find full unobstructed views of Table Mountain, the city of Cape Town, Robben Island and the sea. Wood-burning fireplace for those chilly winter nights, not to mention underfloor heating.

An open stairway takes you to a large family/TV room on the upper level, also with full views, and second wood-burning fireplace. Behind that, nicely separate by a long passage and dressing area, is the second master bedroom with full bath.

The size and layout of the house make it especially well suited to multiple couple and extended family situations. At 300 square meters +/- (3,000 sq. feet) , this is a large house with plenty of room to spread out.

Facilities

The house is furnished and outfitted to a high standard, with such amenities as walnut counter tops in both the kitchens and the baths, European bath fixtures, Italian marble floors, and oriental carpets. WIFI (with your laptop ) and flat panel TV.

Outside, the property has three separate patio areas. The first, and the one you will the most, has table and chairs for 8 and a built in wood burning braai (BBQ). A second patio and garden area is located very privately at the back of the house, off the lower level master suite. Finally, you have a six-foot California redwood hot tub (fees apply) and patio in a totally private, enclosed side yard. Large, enclosed two car garage.

Activities and Attractions

In front of the house, you have white sand beach as far as the eye can see. Great for swimming or walking. Blouberg Beach is world-renowned for kite surfing, if you are young and brave enough to try. Equipment and lessons available just down the street. Even if you don't partake it's great fun to watch. Stunning sunsets over the water.

You are walking distance to great restaurants like Ons Huisie, On the Rocks and Café Blouberg, as you are to upscale shopping at both Eden on the Bay and Seaside Village. You are 5-15 minutes to some of the most scenic golf in the world, 15-20 minutes to city center, and under 30 minutes to Clifton and Camps Bay, to the sports venues (cricket, rugby and soccer), and 30-60 minutes to the wine routes.
