My husband and I stayed at Muckleneuk Manor for Valentines night. We were in Jo burg on business and needed somewhere close to Pretoria CBD. I booked well in advance and asked for the king size room with the a.c. On arrival we were shown to a room with a tiny double bed ( room 4 ) and no ac. Vivienne had some longer staying guests and had "mistakenly" put them in the room I had asked specifically for. I found the room quite warm even with the fan going and the windows open. Plus when the traffic started early in the morning it woke me up. ( her residence is close to a main road.) The room itself was clean and had all the essentials in an open plan way. The shower was open to the room as was the basin and the toilet had a sliding door ... ( with a window that opened onto the courtyard that housed tables for breakfast - some of the guests took their dinner there too ). I did not find the bed comfortable because I could feel the springs not necessarily due to the dimensions. The breakfast was ok. The fruit and yogurt really delicious but the cooked breakfast was not to my liking. It sounds like I am being unduly harsh in my review but I am just being honest. Vivienne is a super lady and was very hospitable, as were her staff. I read other guest reviews before I went and they had a great stay so maybe I was just unlucky however I would not be in a rush to return.
