What can I say!!
My daughter and I stayed here for 4 nights from 28th September until 2nd October 2009. I can honestly say that we were treated to one of the most enjoyable experiences I have ever had. We were greeted by Jane on our arrival almost before we had got out of our car, Jane walked with us to our accomodation and made sure that we were happy before leaving us to settle in. Our lodge was wonderful, spacious and spotlessly clean with very comfortable beds and nice fluffy towels. There was a folder in the lodge and various books and guides which gave us a lot of information about the area we were staying in. We were encouraged to use the guides and maps whenever we were going out which was most helpful to us.
The food was really good, all home cooked and plentiful, there was everything you could want for breakfast and it gave us a really good start to the day.The puddings were divine the most memorable being a heavenly chocolate mousse and something called "vinegar pudding" which was out of this world!! The dining room was spacious and well laid out and again spotless. There was a lounge area availiable for guest use which also housed a wealth of books and yet more guides to the area. Pete manned the bar and was a really good host, it was nice to be able to add drinks onto the final bill and the prices were good.
We went on a game drive with Pete which was very good, he told us a lot about the park in general and his overall knowledge about the game was excellent, we stopped at one of the picnic spots where an assortment of drinks and some fantastic muffins appeared as if by magic!!
The walks around the lodge were great and it was nice to be able to wander freely if you wanted to.The pool area was very nice and had the weather been better we would have used it regularly!!
I have one small comment to make, the weather was wet during our visit and there was nowhere in the lodge to hang wet coats, a very minor thing but a couple of hooks would have been good.
Overall this was a fantastic place to stay and I would recommend it anyone. A big thank you to the Harvey family for making us so welcome at their home!!

Very friendly owners. Were very helpfull and the safari we had in hluhluwe park with Pete was great! The rondavels we slept in were great and it was all very clean. In the evening we were sitting on our porch and in the dark the nyala's came to eat some fruit that fell down from a tree, it was 10 meters from our porch. It was fantastic.
Breakfast and dinner was very good. |
