We choose Umhlanga as the last part of our South Africa trip for a week of relaxing. John and Cathy really helped us to do just that. The accomodation was fantastic and the breakfasts amazing. It was also great to be able to request dinner for one night when we didn't want to go into town and it was really good food. The location was perfect with a 10 minute walk down to the beach and a 10 minute drive to Durban. John and Cathy were able to make lots of recommendations for restaurants and places to stay (Ushaka water park in Durban is a must). Smudge and Freckles were also delightful and kept us company by the pool. I cannot recommend this place enough, we really hope to go back again! |

We stayed at the Kingston House, for 4 nights in December 2008. We were a party of 6 ranging in age from 20 to 69 & we all enjoyed it. The owners John & Cathy could not do enough for us, booking us a restaurant, offering advice & generally making us feel at home.
The decor & comfort is 5 star, with 2 bars to enjoy drinks at. The breakfast was excellent.
I would defiantly recommend the Kingston House to all.

Kingston House has been a home from home since I discovered it in 2003 when searching the internet for somewhere to stay in SA with my two teenage children when my husband was stuck in Hong Kong on business. Cathy and John are marvellous hosts and have become great friends, looking after my parents and our son for various stays. Full of amazing ideas of what to do in beautiful KZN as well as able to provide the best breakfasts ever and a mean braii they always make your stay special. Can't wait to visit again in January - this will be our longest time between visits and it seems odd not to be there for at least a few days every year. Can't recommend enough! |
