PRECAUTIONS

There are mosquitoes around, but Nelspruit and the farm are considered to be a very low-risk malarial area. This means it is highly unlikely you will contract malaria when staying with us. Most local people don’t take malaria prophylactics unless they’re staying over-night in the Kruger Park or environs. That said, Killarney Farm House can't take responsibility for anyone who contracts malaria, so please consult your doctor or travel clinic prior to departure.

ATTRACTIONS & ACTIVITIES

Nelspruit is the provincial capital of Mpumalanga and the gateway to the Bushveld - in particular the world-famous Kruger National Park, (Malelane gate is 100 km's away) one of the biggest and oldest 'Big Five' wildlife parks in the world. Mpumalanga is a lush, land-locked province, filled with deep ravines, verdant valleys, crystal-clear streams, magnificent waterfalls and plenty of wildlife. It is found north-east of Gauteng, and shares a long border with Mozambique.

Mpumalanga enjoys a subtropical climate and is very fertile. There are many huge plantations growing produce ranging from avocado pears to citrus as well as hundreds of thousands of hectares of timber plantations. We are situated approx. 32km from Nelspruit, down 7km of well-maintained dirt road (off the N4 motorway). The house is 370km due east of Johannesburg which takes about 3 ½ hours by car.
