Ikhutseng Nature Reserve is situated between Brits and Thabazimbi, a mere 90 minutes from Pretoria and Johannesburg. The Nature Reserve is 2000 Ha in size and accommodates in excess of 16 species of game including White Rhinoceros, Buffalo, Giraffe, Leopard and Zebra.

Ikhutseng Nature Reserve have in excess of 200 noted species of birds including some rare birds such as the River Warbler, plenty of Owl species and Raptors. The vegetation can be described as Bushveld Savanna and the Nature Reserve is made up of mountainess terrain, undulating hills and grassland areas.

ACCOMMODATION


Accommodation at Ikhutseng Nature Reserve consists of two self catering camps, one Luxury Lodge; Motswiri Lodge and Tsoma Camp.

Motswiri Lodge
Situated in the heart of Ikhutseng Nature Reserve is our superior graded (AA quality assured) Motswiri Lodge. A maximum of 12 people are accommodated in six luxury Safari style tented accommodation (2 people per tent). Each carpeted tent consists of two single beds/one double bed, a dressing room, private verandah, full en-suite bathroom, separate outside kitchenette and a private open-air shower. The tents are privately situated out of sight and sound of the one another, adding to the exclusivity that surrounds the Reserve.

Motswiri Lodge has a communal Lounge, Bar and Dining room area with a paved deck looking out onto the floodlit waterhole in front of the Lodge. There is also a Curio shop, swimming pool and an outside ‘tak kraal’ or boma where meals can be enjoyed if weather permits. Activities on offer include guided eco-drives, eco-walks, bird watching or whatever else suits your fancy.

Tsoma Camp
Tsoma Camp is situated in the mountains on the Southwestern side of Ikhutseng Nature Reserve. The Camp can accommodate a maximum of 10 people (2 people per chalet) in five wooden chalets on stilts. Each chalet consists of two single beds and a private verandah. The units are spaced out on the perimeter of the camp facing inwards towards the centre of the camp.

There is a communal Lapa, Kitchen and Dining room area, as well as a communal ablution block with male and female ablutions consisting of toilets, showers and hand basins. There is also a swimming pool and lawned area for relaxation.

NOTES


Please note that no private vehicles are allowed to drive around in the Reserve, due to a number of unmarked roads. Please note that the gates to the Reserve close at 19h00 every night - Booking is essential!
