Just returned from a three week stay at the Hluhluwe Guest House.
Owner Gerrie and manager Maryna again did everything possible to ensure that our stay went well. Besides the very comfortable and attractive accommodations, all breakfasts and dinners were excellent. We were regularly served deliciously prepared game meats (of, for examples, kudu or wildebeest), vegetables, and desserts for dinner. Breakfasts included eggs-to-order, delicious bacon, toast, assorted cereals, yogurts, and sausages. The providing of oatmeal/"oatie porridge" was much appreciated as well.
Gerrie used her expertise as a game driver to give us a most memorable two-day game drive through Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park. We saw more rhinoceroses at close range than I would ever have hoped for. Besides all of the other game animals (such as giraffes, blue wildebeest, impala, elephants, zebras, and warthogs), Gerrie spotted many different species of birds and told us about the biology of each one. Her knowledge on all of the wildlife is simply excellent. Our two-day safari (with one night of camping) in Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park was just a great experience.
Thanks to the Hluhluwe Guest House for consistently arranging and accommodating our safari interests as our three week stay progressed. When we had had our fill of rhinoceroses, for example, the Hluhluwe Guest House would then help us arrange a trip to Kosi Bay so that we could see new (for us) species of kingfishers or other birds.
Great, personable service at a reasonable price. I thank the Hluhluwe Guest House for all of their assistance throughout our three week stay therefore recommend them very highly. |

Excellent accommodations with courteous, personable service. Very nice rooms with cable television. The food is nothing short of terriffic. I highly recommend the dinners. They are the best I have had in visiting 10 countries throughout Africa. Owner Gerrie is also the best the best game drive guide I have ever had (and I've had many). She is both very knowledgable and observant of wildlife. We found all of the white rhinoceroses and birds I was looking for. Rooms are cleaned promptly every day. The bar has a great atmosphere with all of the mounted game animal heads in it. In addition, the backyard is a quaint garden with a small but inviting pool. I give the Hluhluwe Guest House my highest recommendation. |
