Accommodation

Hazelwood house has 6 double bedrooms, all en-suite. The cottage, Sugarbush, sleeps 6 with 2 bedrooms, kitchen and a large sitting room. It has a high quality sleeper couch to accommodate 2 extra people if required. It has a cosy outside patio that overlooks the garden. There is a double braai (barbecue) area for those lovely evenings!

Pincushion is a comfortable large room with a separate kitchen and bathroom. It has a high quality sleeper couch to accommodate 2 extra people if required. It also has a nice patio outside with easy access to the barbecue facilities. The nice big swimming pool is just round the corner. It also has an enclosed outside area where you can enjoy a private kettle braai while sipping on a glass of good wine!

There are 2 smaller units called Nerina and Erica, each with an en-suite bathroom. These units are mainly for the B&B guests and have a small fridge with electric kettle where you can make your own tea/coffee. Each unit has its own little private patio with access to the swimming pool via their own entrances.

Our pride and joy is the upstairs unit called Wild Clove.. It consists of a nice spacious bedroom and a separate sitting room – each with its own TV. A nice fully equipped kitchenette allows you to cook up a storm. A spacious bathroom with his and her basins, bath, shower and separate toilet. A small balcony leading from the sitting room provides a nice quiet area for your afternoon tea – which you will probably never have there because of the absolutely wonderful wooden deck leading out from the bedroom! Double sliding doors open to this deck from where you have a stunning view over Stellenbosch and its mountains. This is the place where you can really enjoy a good glass of Stellenbosch wine!

All units have their own safes, hairdryers, ceiling fans and oil heaters for those chilly nights. Internet is available via a wireless network – fast ADSL lines.

About Stellenbosch

Stellenbosch is the second oldest town in South Africa after Cape Town. The town is also affectionately known as Eikestad, the town of Oaks, because of the many old oak trees lining the beautiful streets of our town.

There are many wonderful things to do and see in and about town, to name but a few:

Wine Farms
There are numerous wine farms producing excellent wines in the Stellenbosch area. Many offer cellar tours, wine tastings and other activities to visitors. To find out more about wine tasting vist Stellenbosch Wine Route.

Golf
There are a few quality golf courses within easy driving distance from Stellenbosch. Pearl Valley, De Zalze, Strand, Devonvale and Stellenbosch Golf Club are all within 40 kilometres of Hazelwood House.

Hiking
The Jonkershoek Nature reserve, part of the South African National Parks network is a favourite for hikers. Wildlife, waterfalls and fynbos are some of the highlights of the Reserve. Find more information on the reserve at South African National Parks.

Mountain Biking
There are many trails through the mountains and vineyards offering mountain biking enthusiasts plenty of terrain to ride over their stay in the area.
