Kleinmond (meaning: ‘little river mouth’), is a picturesque seaside village situated at the foot of the Kogelberg Mountains. It lies next to a lagoon at the small mouth - hence the name - of the Bot River, on a narrow strip of land. Kleinmond is flanked by the Kogelberg Mountain range on one side and the Atlantic Ocean on the other side. This very peaceful little village, endowed with some of the coast's most natural beauty, will mean you can enjoy some of the most beautiful landscapes and seascapes.
Elephant Rock Guest House boasts a beautiful outside area, encompassing a splash pool, where you can cool off and relax at your leisure. Mountain View Room
This very large light room offers beautiful views of the Kogelberg Mountain. The large king-size bed can also be converted to two single beds. There is also a comfortable day-bed for two additional guests. A small family or three adults can enjoy the comfort of this room. The beautiful wooden floors and fine decorating add to the atmosphere and an en suite bathroom with a large shower adds to the comfort and luxury.
Fynbos Room
is a finely decorated cosy and comfortable room for a couple or single person. The room has an antique oak cupboard and dresser. The en suite bathroom has a well appointed shower. This room also leads to the courtyard and adjacent swimming pool. The entrance is enclosed by a beautiful courtyard.
Protea Room
is the Grande dame of all our rooms. The old Oregon wooden floor and ceiling create a warm and relaxed atmosphere. The room is very spacious and offers a Victorian bath, a twin shower, beautiful twin basins, a comfortable king-size bed, a single bed and couch. It opens onto the wooden deck and pool-area. The room also boasts a large Oregon wardrobe and large flat screen television.
Beach Room
This beautiful spacious room with a Kingsize bed offers a lovely view of the Kogelberg Mountains and the main swimming beach. A romantic balcony to enjoy a sun downer and a comfortable en suite bathroom rounds off the setting.
Rose Room
This room is where romance blooms. With a cosy cottage setting it provides an easy, relaxed old worldly atmosphere. A copper double bed, Victorian bathroom and shower set the scene for a romantic stay. The entrance is enclosed by a beautiful courtyard.
Kleinmond offers a variety of activities for both nature lovers and sports enthusiasts. Perhaps you would prefer to take long walks along the shore, or maybe just sunbathe, or have a refreshing swim, or you can opt to watch whales’ frolicking in the shallow water near the beach. The harbour also offers quaint restaurants and shops.
For the more energetic, there are tennis courts and bowling greens in Kleinmond, where visitors are welcome. Horse riding is available at the Arabella Equestrian Centre and for those who prefer a leisurely cycle ride, a rentabicycle facility is available just outside the town.
The Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve has great outdoor venues and offers a variety of adventurous activities such as tubing and white water rafting on the Palmiet River. Nearby hiking trails abound with spectacular views of the mountains as well as the rocky coastline.
Some activities to be enjoyed excellent birding, lovely mountain, hiking trails, wine tours, horse riding, whale watching, fishing and moon gazing. Kleinmond’s herd of wild horses is also a special attraction. Just five minutes away, in Betty’s Bay, you will find the penguin colony, home to one of only three land-based breeding colonies of the endangered African Penguin.
Kleinmond is a golfers paradise; not only does the village have it's own 9-hole course, but the award winning Arabella Golf Club is a mere 10 kilometers away and the Hermanus Golf Club is also within easy reach (31 kilometers away). The harbour offers quaint restaurants and shops.
