About Dinokeng Fishing & Camping
Dinokeng Fishing & Camping is situated on the South Eastern side of the Roodeplaat Dam where the Edenvale River flows into the dam (directly opposite Leeuwfontein Estates and Sable Hills Waterfront Estate) which is a 15 minute drive from Pretoria. Please keep in mind we are out on the Kameelfontein Road and not the Kameeldrift Road.
We currently offer ten camping sites - eight of which have electricity points and we are in the process of increasing our camp sites to double the amount by October 2012.
Most of our visitors are very serious fisherman that enjoy a drink or two - but appreciate nature and respect one another and keep noise levels down.
Theo, our manager, has been catching fish here for over 41 years – and you are welcome to engage with him in regards to fishing, nature and possibly even the meaning of life!
Please keep the following in mind. We are not a party venue; music and noise is only allowed up to 30dB from 10 metres - which means very soft. Pets, bikes and quads have to be pre-registered.
Activities and Attractions
We offer camping, picnics, fishing, canoeing, bird watching, mountain biking (bring your own bike), game viewing (we border the Roodeplaat Nature Reserve to our North), horse riding (you will need to book two weeks in advance). We also offer an ablution block, swimming pool, children's play area and small convenience shop.
We have been visited by National Geographic for filming of certain fresh water species and the Magazine Stywe Lyne / Tight Lines has reviewed our fishing area in 2010 and 2012.
Carp weighing up to 17kg has been caught here as have ‘Swartbaars’ of 3.9kg, Kurpers and a variety of other fresh water fish.
