Your piece of Eden in the heart of the Garden Route, in the historically-rich and exceedingly beautiful town of Mossel Bay. Situated on the beach, the 86 sea-facing rooms, each with their own balcony, offer unsurpassed views of Seal Island and the bay. Mossel Bay holds many delights and treasures for those who, like Diaz, will take the time to explore. Although only 1.5km from the N2, the town with the second-most moderate climate in the world seems a million miles away from anywhere. The Diaz Strand Hotel and Resort is one of her brightest charms. The luxury hotel is named in honour of Bartholomeu Dias, and themed on the long and vivid history of the area. With plush suites named after Dias and his companions, you will feel yourself surrounded by the charm of heritage. DIAZ STRAND HOTEL & RESORT:The hotel is situated right on the beach: only a cocktail bar stands between the hotel and the ocean, and it is up to you to decide whether you would prefer to go around or through the bar! Its fabulous location aside, the hotel also has a few other unique characteristics. For instance, the largest ceiling fresco in the Southern Cape, spanning an enormous 144m² and depicting the Fantasy of the Discovery of the World, forms the focal point of the hotel’s Bahia dos Vaqueiros Restaurant. ACCOMMODATION:The 86 sea-facing rooms and suites are finished in rich cherry-wood, and the en-suite bathrooms in lustrous marble. The two suites each have spacious bedrooms and a separate lounge leading out onto the private balcony. The usual luxuries, including DSTV and a well-stocked minibar, are present in all rooms and suites. DINING:With magnificent panoramas of both the Indian Ocean and the Outeniqua Mountains visible through its windows by day and the sparkling lights of the town by night, Bahia dos Vaqueiros is undoubtedly Mossel Bay’s premier fine-dining restaurant. Our executive chef incorporates locally-grown fresh produce into his dishes to create a crisp and contemporary fusion cuisine. Enjoy a pre-dinner drink at the Cantina Donnas ladies’ bar before taking up a seat at your table. The bar stocks single malts such as Glen Grant and Glenlivet, aged from 12 to 21 years, and after dinner you can enjoy dessert wines such as Klein Constantia Vin de Constance and Delheim Edelspatz. Bahia dos Vaqueiros also features an exclusive walk-in wine cellar, where patrons are able to select icon wines from estates such as Meerlust, Rust en Vrede, Vergelegen and Rupert & Rothschild. The wine menu of Bahia dos Vaqueiros has been awarded the most prestiges award at the Diners Club International Awards, with an "Award of Exelence". FACILITIES:The Outdoor Heated Rim-flow Pool, its crisp, clear blue water, is reserved exclusively for the use of hotel guests. There are ample deck chairs at the pool’s edge and under the palm trees; drinks and teas are served here for the convenience of our guests. The Olympic-size Indoor Heated Pool is conveniently situated next to the Floating Whale Cocktail Bar with the tropical Jacuzzi Garden nestled in amongst lush greenery just a few step away. Within touching distance of the captivating coastline and the cool waves, Lazy River captures the essence of Diaz Strand - fun, action and excitement. Ride the tubes with friends, or simply wallow in the water, work on your tan and drift along without a care in the world. Those who prefer a somewhat faster ride, can take in a superb high-speed view of the ocean whilst zooming down the seaside Supertube. Play a round on either of the two aptly-named Adventure Golf courses, or pick up a set of clubs and head out to the Mashie Golf course - all three courses have fantastic views of the beach and ocean. ACTIVITIES:Helicopter rides can be arranged from Diaz Strand; the experience will afford you spectacular aerial views of Seal Island, the Point and the town of Mossel Bay. Diaz Adventures, an on-site adventure company, offers a range of activities in and around the resort, including horse-rides along the beach, boat trips around Seal Island, whale-watching, sea-kayaking, abseiling, and scuba-diving, either at sea or in the on-site training tank. Team-building adventures can be arranged. Fun and entertainment for children under 8 years - this is the magical world of Pikkieland, with its choo-choo train, carousel, jumping castle, jungle gym, touch-farm, ball pond, cycle track and more... hours of fun for the kids! Your children can be left to play here in absolute safety CONFERENCES:If you need to conduct business while away, the Pero Dias Conference Centre will allow you do it in style, with all the facilities necessary to cater for groups from 2 to 700.
