About Cotswold House
Cotswold House is a colonial Cape Dutch style home offering bed & breakfast accommodation in 11 well appointed guest rooms. The guest house has lovely views of Table Mountain, Lionís Head, Signal Hill, Table Bay, and across the Milnerton Golf Course and the lagoon.
Cotswold House Guest House is ideally situated in Milnerton, at the gateway to the West Coast, just across the Milnerton Golf course. For visitors from abroad its situation is ideal, as it is close to all the major routes in and around Cape Town and the Peninsula, as well as being centrally situated to access all the major areas of interest like the V&A Waterfront, Cape Town City Centre, Table Mountain, Cape Point, the Winelands (Durbanville, Paarl, Stellenbosch and Franschhoek), the West Coast and the Karoo.
For the local business man, it is close to the airport, city centre, and very close to Century City and the light-industrial areas of Montague Gardens, Killarney, Paarden Eiland, Maitland, Nídabeni and Epping.
The Guest House
Cotswold House, which opened in 1990 as a guest house, is a colonial Cape Dutch style home and built in the late 1940ís. It was used by the second to last Governor-General of South Africa, Major Gideon Brand Van Zyl as his retirement home. It has lovely views of Table Mountain, Lionís Head, Signal Hill, Table Bay, Milnerton Golf Course (the only true links golf course in South Africa) and the lagoon. The endless white sandy Milnerton beach is an easy stroll away, where you can enjoy watching the sun set, admire the skill of the kite surfers, or enjoy a drink with your dinner at "Maestroís on the Beach".
A gracious home, Cotswold House provides you with a home-from-home feel. You will be warmly welcomed as a guest, and depart feeling like a friend. Here you can enjoy a delicious breakfast, relax around the pool while deepening your tan, read a book from the library under a tree in the garden, enjoy a glass of wine in the Governorís Bar or plan your trip with the assistance of your well informed host.
Cotswold House now offers 13 bedrooms in total. Eight of the bedrooms are in Cotswold House itself and five bedrooms are in the "Residence", the property right next door. Breakfast, for guests in both properties, is served in Cotswold House.
The 13 bedrooms are well appointed. Two luxury rooms have extra length king-size beds (with twin beds option). Of the four executive rooms, three have an extra length king-size bed (with twin beds option) and the other has a standard length queen-size bed. Luxury and executive rooms all have ensuite bath and / or shower. One of the five standard rooms has a king-size bed (with twin beds option), and four have queen-size beds. Another one of the standard rooms has a small kitchenette. Two of the standard rooms do not have en-suite bathrooms, but a private bath and/or shower for each room across the hallway (two steps).
The Loft is a new, modern apartment built on top of the garage, with a double room and ensuite bathroom, and a lounge with two sleeper couches with shower, and an open plan kitchen. There is a balcony and aircon.
All of the rooms have WiFi, ceiling fan, television, telephone, hairdryer, safe, and coffee / tea tray with kettle. The rooms in Cotswold House additionally have fridges . The Residence is especially suited for families. Kitchen and braai facility available. Lovely swimming pool in both Cotswold house and the Residence.
Activities & Attractions
Most activities can be arranged from Cotswold House, from golfing, buying diamond and gold jewellery, boat charters, helicopter flights, shark-cage diving, whale watching, wine tasting, kayaking, horse riding, kite- and wind-surfing, water skiing, sailing, birding, gambling, going to the theatre, enjoying fine-dining, shopping and whatever else takes your fancy. Golf tee-off times can easily be organised for you.
Day-tours can be arranged, from a multi-cultural tour around the townships, a safari in a game park, a tour around an ostrich ranch, a wine tasting experience in the Winelands, a trip up Table Mountain, a cruise to Robben Island to a drive to Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope and back, plus many more. We will gladly arrange for airport transfers for you to Cotswold House, as well as arrange the best rate for car hire.
