Boubou Bed & Breakfast offers 4-star accommodation near Sun City and Pilanesberg National Park in the North West Province, just 1 ½ hours’ drive from Johannesburg and Pretoria, and 20 minutes from Rustenburg. It is in a malaria-free area.

The name Boubou is derived from a local bird, and its duet call is synonymous with the rich birdlife of the bushveld. Many of the local species can be seen in our garden.

In addition to a beautiful, restful garden, our property includes 25ha of pristine bush, which supports a herd of nyala, blesbuck plus other small game such as duiker, steenbok, tortoises, etc. Jan-Piet en Marnice offer outstanding South African hospitality and guests are treated to uniquely South African cuisine.

Boubou B&B is not merely a stopover, it is a destination.

Accommodation

SOUTHERN BOUBOU:
This luxurious double bedroom (sleeping 2), is furnished with a king-size bed, a private bath spa / jacuzzi, shower and sauna. This room overlooks the beautiful garden and has a private entrance that opens onto the terrace. Ideal for honeymoon guests.

GABON BOUBOU:
Single bedroom (sleeping 1) . Ideal for children or a single guest. The bathroom is accessible from the corridor but do not share with other guests. An extra bed can be added on request.

SOUZA'S SHRIKE::
Double room (sleeping 2) with private terrace and separated from the rest of the house. The room has twin beds and an adjoining bathroom. Ideal for the true nature and peace seeker!

TROPICAL BOUBOU:
Double room (sleeping 2) with an adjoining bathroom. This room overlooks the lush garden.

CRIMSON BOUBOU:
Spacious double bedroom (sleeping 2), with twin beds which can be converted into a double bed on request. It has a private entrance to the terrace, which offers a nice view of the pool.

Breakfast & Dining

Breakfast is usually served on the patio. Besides fresh fruits, “boeretroos” (traditional South African coffee), tea and fresh orange juice, you can choose from a variety of egg dishes, served with all the usual trimmings. Our bread is baked fresh daily on the premises. Homemade jams, cold meats, cheeses and yoghurt are also available.

Dinner can either be a traditional South African "braai" of grilled meat, served with a selection of fresh vegetables and a salad. Your hosts will prepare this in our custom-built braai area or on the dining room/patio. Alternatively, guests are welcome to organise their own braai in the braai area.

Another option is to enjoy a full, 3-course gourmet dinner prepared by Marnice in our kitchen. These dinners include uniquely South African cuisine and can be enjoyed with the sounds of the bush in the background.

Attractions and activities

Take an informative game drive on request at an additional charge and it is subject to availability. Guests are picked up at the front door of Boubou B&B.

A private airfield and helicopter landing pad is less than 5 minutes’ drive from Boubou B&B. Flights and flips are available on request also at an additional charge.

Boubou B&B is located a mere 30 – 35 minutes’ drive from the world famous Lost City and Casino at Sun City and Pilanesberg National Park, the home to the "Big Five".

A visit to the Madikwe Game Reserve 200 km’s and Marakele National Park 170 km away from Boubou B&B is an unforgettable experience and something you have to do before leaving the North West Province. Boubou B&B is only 15 minutes’ drive from the Royal Bafokeng Sport Stadium, one of the host stadiums of the 2010 World Cup Soccer.
