This campsite is situated right on the banks of the Boontjies River Mountain stream with pools to bath in. There is a big farm dam on the farm where you can take your canoe.

Accommodation - The Campsite

The campsite is situated between orange orchards on a working orange farm in a small valley that is very secluded from other activities with two camp spots - one is under a lovely big oak tree on grass and the other one is on grass next to the river - all with power points. The campsite has, one ablution facility which is modernly done with flush toilet and one hot shower and is ideal for one group that would like to be totally private, but we do allow two groups maximum of total of 12 people.

Please bring own mountain bikes as the Citrusdal village route goes close by the campsite. The campsite is 3 km from Citrusdal.

Swimming can be done in the cement dam close to the camp site during January to April when the river is dry.

Citrusdal village

The Citrusdal village is situated 175 km from Cape Town in the famous Cederberg Wilderness area. The Oliphants River flows right through the valley all year round and the area produces a variety of citrus fruits, soft fruits, Rooibos tea, wine and the medicinal herb Buchu.

With only a hours drive from the west coast with its open space, blue ocean and best left surf break in South Africa and an hours drive away from the northern part of the Cederberg Wilderness area with its world famous rock climbing spots it is the perfect spot to explore with six amazing scenic mountain routes you can choose from.

The village itself has numerous activities you can take part in, which include a golf course, mountain biking trail, tennis courts, 4x4 trails, hiking trails and amazing scenic routes on four different passes. In town there are three lovely coffee shops and four steak houses to choose from.

The town also hosts four annual events which range from winter to spring time when the flowers are best viewed. These events include a 4x4 event at the beginning of October with over 10 routes to choose from. A mountain bike event with four different routes; ranging from 10km for the kids to over 50km for the more experience rider. Then there are the canoeing championships at the end of July which gets more and more attention each year and the annual Citrusdal Festival for families at the beginning of September which is also very popular. The village also hosts a farmers market each Saturday at the end of each month.
