The Black Eagle Retreat is situated in the picturesque Elands River Valley in the shadow of the Drakensberg mountains and surrounded by the stunning scenery and attractions of Mpumalanga in South Africa. Black Eagle Retreat is just 15kms from Waterval Boven and has 140 hectares of land offering mountain views which visitors are free to explore on foot or cycle.

WILDLIFE


There is plenty of wildlife to enjoy, with buck, monkeys and bush pig around, along with over a hundred species of birds including Eagles which nest here. The fishing in the dam is excellent. The dam is stocked with black bass and fishing is on a catch and release basis.

ACCOMMODATION


Black Eagle Retreat offers four lakeside wooden chalets, three of them have two bedrooms and a bathroom and the other has one bedroom with an ensuite. Each chalet is equipped for self catering and includes a living area, kitchen area, a stoep and a braai. Firewood is provided and we sell charcoal, braai packs and ice.

RESTAURANT AND PUB


The Eagle’s Nest Pub and Restaurant is on site serving breakfast, lunch and evening meals everyday. There is DSTV in the pub. We have a newly refurbished garden area including 3 lapas and 2 braai areas looking over the stunning moutains of the Elands Valley.

ACTIVITIES AND TOURS


A 4x4 course, rock climbing, abseiling are available nearby and we are about an hour and a half away from Kruger Park and close to other popular attractions in Mpumalanga such as Sudwala Caves and the dinosaur park. Less than an hour away from Nelspruit with the Riverside Mall and casino and the famous Botanical Gardens.

The Black Eagle Retreat is a friendly family run business and the Keene Family make sure all visitors feel comfortable and welcome.
