I booked though SA Venues. I also immediately called and confirmed my booking, asking for a ground floor room, near ammenities, as I have a disability. I further said that I am a toxicologist and was seeing patients during my stay and asked if the wifi was good, as I have a medical handheld device which meds to connect to a lab in Europe for scanning of my patients. I asked if there was a quiet area where I could see them and not disturb other guests. All this was answered in the affirmative. I paid up front 2 weeks in advance. Up ond disembarking from my flight on Wednesday from CT, I received a call telling me my "booking never made it into their system and that they unilaterally rebooked me into another hotel. I strongly objected to this as I had already notified patients driving and flying in from out of town where I'd be seeing them and my first appointment was an hour off. The manager said she'd "try and make a plan" and called me back telling me she did me "a favour" and could accommodate me. My entire trip was marked by a feeling that they really didn't want me there. I was told to move somewhere else for my consultations, after completing the first one. I was called aside after complaining the wifi didn't work, that they'd have to "charge me" for the Internet use, even though we connected via hotspots in our mobile phones most of the time as the reception was so poor. The manager mess went further to say that "if you ever come back here, we'll have to definitely charge you for internet usage!" The waiting and reception staff were lovely people and I wanted to tip them for excellent service, but I was told that the tips are "problematic" if added to bills, so I tipped them privately. If the hotel were run by the waiters and receptionist, Bernard, it would be a wonderful place as it is well appointed, comfortable and the food is reasonable. Their coffee is fabulous, but the atmosphere created by management sadly marred my entire experience and I doubt whether I'd ever go back, even though the venue suited my needs extremely well. His was a disappointing stay.
