Custom built with discerning guests in mind, Ashbrook Country Lodge is located on one of the few tarred roads in the village of Clarens within walking distance of the village square (approximately 700m), where restaurants, art galleries, craft stores and coffee shops abound. Walking along the country roads and through the nearby conservancy area are favorite pastimes of both locals and visitors alike.

The furnishings and fittings are luxurious combination of classic and contemporary styles in keeping with Ashbrook Country Lodge’s four star grading, making this venue a true home away from home establishment.

Self Catering Accommodation

The six units, sited in landscaped gardens, comprise a two bedroom / two bathroom lodge, three one bedroom lodges and two suites.

The extremely spacious suites are furnished with queen size beds and have a bath and shower en suite, private balconies and kitchenettes, equipped with bar fridges, microwave ovens, kettles, toasters, crockery and cutlery. These units are ideal for couples who would like the facilities to make a light meal but are not looking for a full self catering option. These units are located on the first floor.

The one and two bedroom units all have bath and shower en suite as well as fully equipped kitchens, private patios and braais. One of the one bedroom units has a queen size bed whilst the other two offer king size beds. In the two bedroom unit the second bedroom has a shower en suite. Sleeper couches are available in the lounges of select units, accommodating additional guests. These couches are suitable for one adult or two small children.

All units have open fireplaces in the lounge areas and underfloor heating to beat the chilly winters in the Eastern Free State. Down duvets, 100% cotton lined and large fluffy towels are the norm at Ashbrook. And if guests tire of the magnificent mountain views from every patio, Dstv is available in all units.

Facilities

Ashbrook Country Lodge offers its guests secure parking behind a palisade fence with remote controlled access, digital safes in each unit as well as a daily housekeeping service.

Ashbrook Country Lodge is well equipped with everything guests need for a very comfortable stay. Although there are several shops in the village, the variety of goods is fairly limited so we suggest you bring most of your basics including tea / coffee and condiments with you. For those arriving late in the winter months we recommend they bring some firewood with them. During normal business hours firewood is readily available in several local shops.

Location

Located near to the Golden Gate National Park, Ashbrook Country Lodge is the ideal base for visitors wanting to simply enjoy the majestic mountain scenery or for those wanting to explore the extreme sports options available in the area.

Nearby activities include: an 18 hole golf course, tennis courts, hiking, eco quad bike riding, white water rafting, horse riding, fly fishing, mountain biking and abseiling. Clarens is famous for its art galleries and in more recent years is becoming well known for its numerous talented musicians who can be heard at the local pubs most weekends.
