Wilderness Accommodation / Anchorage B&B Wilderness Accommodation / Bed & Breakfast in Wilderness

The Anchorage is set on the banks of the Touw River, which is part of the Wilderness National Park. A tranquil haven for birders and nature lovers. We are centrally situated to enjoy the Garden Route. Wilderness itself offers a host of activities from hiking trails, canoeing, cycling, swimming, fishing, whale and dolphin watching, horse riding, scenic rides, beautiful beach walks and paragliding.

We are also fortunate to have a good restaurant on the lagoon which can be reached either by boat, walking (5 minutes) or car (2 minutes). Other good restaurants are in the village.

Attractions & Activities

We have a complimentary canoe for guest use to view the Touw River and the famous Kingfisher trail and waterfall. This canoe ride / part hike is one of four interesting hikes available which is a birders and hikers paradise.

The region boasts dense indigenous forest and expansive inland lakes. Buck, baboons, monkeys and many bird species can frequently be seen within the reserve for those wishing to make closer inspection of this ecological haven. Between June and September Southern Wright whales can be seen off Wilderness beaches, as the whales make their annual journey to and from breeding grounds from the south.

Less than five minutes drive to the Wilderness village, restaurants and Dolphins Point, from where dolphins and whales can frequently be spotted and paragliders soar back and forth across the highway and kloofs, landing on the beaches.

We are ideally situated for day trips to Knysna (25 minutes away), Plettenberg Bay (one hour), Natures Valley and Storms River (one hour, 20 minutes), Oudtshoorn, (50 minutes) George (15 minutes) and Mossel Bay (40 minutes). Rapid access to the N2.

Golfers are spoilt for choice with many courses to choose from in nearby areas. Golf bookings gladly made on behalf of guests. Wilderness village does have a local tourism office and your hosts Clare and Beau will also assist with guidance.
