The 3 star TGCSA rated 3 bedroom Addo Gateway Lodge is ideally situated close to all major game parks, in a small village, Cannonville, nestled along the banks of the beautiful Sundays River in the Colchester area.

Surrounded by a beautiful and tranquil garden, just off the N2, 35kms East of Port Elizabeth, Addo Gateway Lodge is only 4 km from the new South entrance of the Addo Elephant National Park (Camp Matyholweni) and is an ideal stop over for anyone who would like to visit the this park and other game reserves in the vicinity.

Accommodation

We offer B & B facilities as well as self-catering in the lodge. We have one double room, plus one twin room and one family room, which sleeps a total of 8 people. The lodge also has a fully equipped kitchen for self catering, an indoor braai in the thatched lapa, a lounge, dining room as well as an outside braai area, with exit to a huge open deck, overlooking the river and magnificent dunes across the road where a big public open space, gives you the tranquillity you need to wind down, whilst enjoying a glass of wine on the deck.

All rooms have their own en suite shower / toilet and bathroom facilities, own entrance, TV, fan, fridge, microwave, heater, coffee / tea facilities

We also offer a lovely cottage behind the lodge with upmarket facilities and this is fully equipped with two bedrooms, full bathroom, lounge, kitchenette and an undercover braai adjacent to the cottage rooms. The main bedroom has a queen and single bed and the second bedroom a double bed plus double bunk. The cottage can sleep a total from 3 to 7 comfortably.

Breakfast

A scrumptious full farmhouse breakfast will be served which includes cereals, pancakes / muffins, fruit, yoghurt, coffee / juice / tea, fried / scrambled / boiled egg, mince / sausage / viennas, bacon, fried onions and tomatoes with cheese, mushrooms, beans or for the vegetarian a full vega-breakfast on order.

Green Policy

We recycle all organics and feed the worms in our worm farms with all our kitchen waste, and use the compost and vermitea in our vegetable garden and on our bonsai trees on display. These worm farms can also be ordered from us. We believe in “going-green” and our lodge pledges to make a smaller carbon footprint for our future generations.

Activities and Attractions

Come and enjoy the most magnificent views of the Colchester / Alexandria dune fields which is the second largest coastal dune field in the world and the largest in the Southern Hemisphere. Explore the abundant birdlife along the estuary which at the last count was about 250 different species. The river also boasts a big variety of fish and kabeljou which weighed in at more that 65kg.
