A conference venue for up to 20 people is also available. Located within an hour's drive from Cape Town, beautiful Betty's Bay is situated in the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve. This stylishly decorated retreat on the edge of The Grootwit Vlei Lake is a haven for Birdwatchers and "flyfishing" of species like the Bass and Karp is angled here. The lake is also home to rare species of microfrogs and marshfrogs. They will entertain you during the night with a choir of frog calls. Betty's Bay is an ideal location for whale watching during the migration season when whales come into the bay to calve and nurse. A visitor to this small piece of heaven can also view the Jackass Penguin Colony from a viewing platform at The Old Whaling Station. The Jackass Penguin is one of only 18 Penguin species worldwide, and is the only species to breed around the African coast. Betty's Bay offers angling Sites at Davidskraal, Harbour and "Tom se Klip", sandboarding at Silversands for the "tobogganing" fans and an abundance of walking trails (and a relaxing walk at the Botanical gardens) for the not so adventurous.
