Review by: Helen Coetzee, Johannnesburg (stayed: August 2009)
I have just had a shocking experience with FZP. I booked 501 New Cumberland in Mouille Point in Cape Town and was told and judged from the website that it was in an immaculate condition and had DSTV. I arrived at 4.45pm. The apartment was filthy, the DSTV was not working, a light fitting was hanging from the shower. There were no fitted sheets in the main bedroom and the pillow cases were threadbare. The mattress was soiled. The TV remote was broken and stuck together with masking tape. Cigarette butts were left thrown outside under the air conditioning.
FZP wanted to "clean" the apartment at 5.30pm. I refused and left. FZP has appropriated the first night's rental and a 10% handling fee which it refuses to refund even after having being given photos with irrefutable proof of the state of the apartment.
This is by no means luxury accommodation. I also query why there are no photos of the bathrooms on the website.
