Poverty and the government’s emphasis on group identity, are of the main reasons for the historically disadvantaged “townships” retaining its apartheid mantle. Only of the more affluent areas can it be said that social integration has taken root. We would like you to personally experience this unique political set up by staying two days in a guest house in a “black, coloured and white” area. This is also a golden opportunity to experience the diversified cultural entertainment and cuisine of Cape Town. At the same time, you will also visit the local tourist attractions in and around Cape Town. The remaining four days you will have the option of either a cultural tour of the Garden Route or the Namaqualand Floral Extravaganza.

Day 1: Cape Town to Gugulethu
On your arrival you will be shuttled to the first guesthouse.

Overnight: Liziwe's Guest House in Gugulethu

Day 2: Gugulethu & Cape Peninsula
Two days at a guest house in Gugulethu, to include a tour of the “townships”, a craft market, the beautiful Gates HIV/AIDS Centre; Robben Island; Water Front; Cape Flats Nature Reserve, Mayibuya Centre (Robben Island Archives at the University of the Western Cape); Table Mountain and a visit to a local school to interact with the school community and to enjoy a Cultural ensemble of ethnic African music and dancing.

Day 3: Gugulethu
Spend another day in Gugulethu.

Day 4: Gugulethu, Grassy Park, Cape Winelands
Two days at a guest house in Grassy Park, to include a tour of the area; the Cape Winelands; A visit to a local school, where the choir will perform a rendition of songs handed down by the slaves. From there you will travel by a horse drawn carriage to the Rondevlei Bird Sanctuary (a traditional Khoi-San lunch will be served within the reserve), You will also be taken on a row boat in search of hippopotamus between the weeds on the vlei.

Day 5: Grassy Park
Spend another day in Grassy Park.

Day 6: Grassy Park to Hout Bay
A scenic ocean drive to the Boulders (penguins), Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, Chapman’s Peak Drive en route to Hout Bay, where you will spend two nights at a guest house on the water front. This is a popular tourist attraction and play ground of the rich and famous. Besides taking in all the local attractions(boat trip to Seal Island etc.), you will be given cart blanche to roam the beach front.

Day 8: Hout Bay to Garden Route or Namaqualand
You will have the option of either the Garden Route or the Namaqualand Floral Extravaganza
Garden Route: Fisherman’s cottage in Arniston; Santos Express Train Lodge in Mossel Bay; Hazel’s Guest House in Oudtshoorn or Floral Extravaganza: Ratelgat in Van Rhynsdorp; Guest house in Clanwilliam.
