A visit to the Bloemfontein Zoo is the perfect opportunity to learn about some of the wildlife we have in South Africa. You can stroll around the grounds which cover an area of approximately 15 hectares and see a variety of animals which include over 65 mammal species and a large variety of birds.

The Bloemfontein Zoo is well known for its large collection of primates, so if you are interested in these animals you will be able to learn more about their fascinating lifestyle. You might remember hearing about Charlie the chimp who unfortunately developed a smoking habit after mimicking visitors who were smoking. The zoo made a concerted effort to help Charlie stop smoking.
