Magersfontein is situated near Kimberley in the Northern Cape Province and is known primarily for the Battle of Magersfontein, which was fought between the British and the Boers in 1899. However, it is also known (particularly amongst keen golfers) for its world-class golf course, which was built according to USGA standards in 2007.
The course is open all year round (including Mondays), and invites its members as well as visitors to enjoy the stunning conditions and gorgeous views. More than this, though, it has been designed with a number of water hazards, riveted bunkers, and other challenges to ensure that players stay alert and are able to test their skills in a very real and practical way.
The course is beautiful, and there are a number of resident swans and springbuck that make any time on the fairways quite special for those that love the outdoors. Tee times are accepted, and there is a driving range for those that want to get in some practice. Clubs and carts are available for hire.
The pro shop at Magersfontein Memorial Golf Club is well stocked, and assures members and visitors of variety coupled with friendly service. There is also a clubhouse here, complete with a bar and restaurant so that players can unwind and enjoy the loveliness of the game long after the game has finished.
